Ask Chris Hardy

Ok Fiverrtastic /readers I'm coming out with a new feature where this week I will feature different Top Rated Sellers who answer a panel of questions I sent them. Now I am friends with a lot of Top Rated Sellers being a Fiverr blogger and all, but that doesn't mean all of them are willing to answer. Chris Hardy, the voice-over and voice professional extraordinaire was the first to answer my questions. His answers blew me away.  I think any of the new or struggling sellers could learn a lot from this interview. Here is the questions I asked him below and the answers he gave.

What is your highest selling gig and is it still active today?
That would be my “I will speak your message in the cartoon voice of your choosing” gig! Been active since September 2010.

How do you promote your gigs? What has been the best method(s)?
I do very little promotion – I’ve seen pretty decent results from placing an ad on backpage.com



(Never heard of the site so i checked it out...it's like Craigslist just not as known i think)

About how many orders do you receive on average per week?
Hmm, for all my gigs it’s about 5-10 per day, so maybe 35-70 per week.

(wow that's a lot of orders!)
 

What thought process goes into a new gig and how often do you try and create one?
I try to come up with something that no one would think of. Haven’t created a new gig since march 2012 and that one was just selling a digital copy of my CD. Not terribly creative there, but I’ve sold a few so far.

How long does it take for you to complete a gig on average?
Depends on my life outside of fiverr – fiverr is one of my 3 jobs. Some things I complete the same day. On average, I’d say 2-3 days.

Do you receive a lot of gig extras? How do you upsell your gigs?
I’d say about 50-60% of my orders have extras. The only upsell I do is when buyers ask how soon I can deliver and I’ll direct them to my rush add-on.

If you’re late on an order how do you prevent a customer from performing a late cancel?
I’ve not been late yet!

How often do you contact support about situations regarding a customer?
I usually contact support over bugs in the system. Don’t think I’ve ever had an issue with a buyer that I couldn’t resolve.

What is your best and worst experience on Fiverr?
Best – repeat buyers! Worst – that time when I wasn’t getting paid due to a glitch. Grrr.

What advice would you give to a new seller or a seller who has been around awhile but not doing as well as they used to?
We all have talent – find yours and don’t just do what everyone else is doing, you’ll get lost in the crowd. You gotta be yourself and you gotta be patient.

Chris Hardy, The voice over artist and musician that we all come to know and love we now have a deeper understanding of his work and how busy he really is. Awesome interview answers Chris! It's a wonder this guy even sleeps! Sometimes, I wish I could be Top Rated Seller, but after the few responses I have got so far, I am glad I'm only a level 2 seller. I am sometimes swamped with gigs already. I'm not too skilled with the voice over or video gigs, but if I was it would probably be a nightmare. I love my graphic design gigs, but not that much! Need advice...i'm your guy

Welcome to blog #150. I have been asked recently if I would be the word to the masses and give some much needed Fiverr advice to the "Newbies" of the Fiverr community. Well you all came to the right place because I can definitely help. I'm going to be doing a few different things that will help the Fiverr community with thier sales and to build that much needed customer rapport. here's is my top 10 words of wisdom to being a better seller here on Fiverr.

(10) The primary image to each gig is extremely important. Make sure that each image is of the best quality possible so the customer can see a good example of your work or see how you present your gig. an overused clipart or shoddy work will not get many clients.

(9) The video is very important! make a nicely made presentation or a video of you doing the work. if you can't create the video pay someone $5 on Fiverr to help you create one and add your own elements.

(8) make business cards, flyers, postcards and other advertisments. Believe me you will need print advertising later.

(7) Pay someone to write articles or blogs about you. The more exposure you gigs have the better. If your gigs aren't recognized in a search engine or easily able to be found people aren'y ordering.

(6) Keywords are important. if you have to research what keywords are best for your gig then do so. The better keywords you have the better sales you will have!

(5) Order services off other Fiverr sellers and make your services that much better. If you're a logo design company don't make your own design...have someone else help make your company name. That what I did for my graphic design website! If you write blogs for people pay someone to guest blog for you. The world is at your fingertips with Fiverr!

(4) Offer to trade services with other sellers. For instance, if you know both of you could benefit from eachothers service offer to trade. Instead of both paying $5 it's going to cancel out anyways. or offer a free gig extra if they order your gig in exchange for them giving you some sort of extra incentive.

(3) Make Gtiends with other Fiverr sellers. Add them to facebook, twitter, linkedin...wherever. build a Fiverr community!

(2) To follow up on number 3 you need to build as many friendships as possible so like different Fiverr pages and Join different Fiverr forums and Fiverr groups. Linkedin has an amazing Fiverr group for Fiverr sellers of all levels. If you have a linked in account and haven't checked out this group why the hell not!

(1) Never give up! No matter how hard it get's never, ever give up! there sre so many other things you probably could be doing but if you want to be a freelancer and want to be working for yourself and be your own boss Fiverr is the right step in the right direction.

With that said, I think this is my cue to exit stage left. I am going to be featuring a new segment on Fiverrtastic similiar to Adam's on Yourfiverr.com...but not a video segment. I will be featuring different Top Rated Sellers who I have featured in the past who will answer questions about their careers thus far. Sorry I've been away so long

Hey Fiverrtastic readers,
I am sorry I have been away so long. I have missed writing to you about all the different gigs out there. If you have been following my facebook page you have been noticing all the really cool gigs I have been posting. I see that Sigit likes them a lot. I'm not sure who the guy is but he must definitely be a real fan of Fiverr. I hope all of you had a great Halloween. It's one of the few times of the year that I enjoy, outside of my birthday, Christmas, and 4th of july. There are a few other holidays i like but those are the basic ones. I really don't have a specific gig for you all to check out. Ive been so busy I haven't had a chance to even remotely seek out gigs. But, I will be looking for a few tonight.

I do have a suggestion though. I want the Fiverr community to help me write my blog and run my page. I can only do so much ya know. So if you have an awesome gig you want to feature on my blog send me a message on my facebook or send me a comment on here. Fiverr runs 25/8 and is always evolving and so does Fiverrtastic. I need your help to make this the biggest and best blog. Logo designs in 24 hours...no way!

Hey Fiverrtastic readers,
I came across this really cool gig about a seller who will deliver a logo design to you in 24 hours or less. Tha in itself is impressive. I used to do that too but I got overwhelmed with orders and had to do 8-10 days. This sellers username is christiansc and he will create an amazing logo design for you. He basically makes 3 designs kinda like my gig does. I wonder if he delivers in PNG format. I would so order it. Check out his gig now right here. I think this gig is pretty cool because sometimes people need express delivery and don't want to pay for multiple gigs. I think a seller like this could go far if he offered other graphic design gigs like poster design or postcards. Believe me I know because there are sometimes i get overwhelmed just with graphic design orders. Three logos is not easy to do in 24 hours. Believe me I get at least a few orders a week and have had 176 postive reviews on my logo gig since on Fiverr.

christiansc you have some amazing gig and your live portfolio is really nice. There will come a time when you can't deliver in 24 hours so i suggest that sooner or later you up your estimated time of arrival. This site is saturated with large amounts of logo gigs and in order to succeed you need to offer a large variety of gigs. I also noticed you have 2 logo gigs. I would change the other one to a seasonal logo gig. I also like that you have a signature gig. There are not too many of those around. now if you could just get a few clients to order the signature gig it would increase your ranking. I also like how you are very versatile with your gigs. Change it up sometimes and put some on suspend when you get a lot of orders. Believe me it will help. I also like how 3 of your gigs have videos. In order for me to get noticed on Fiverr I hade to create more gigs with videos.

If you want a really nice logo you should check out this seller today. A seller should not take more than 8-10 days for a logo and when someone is in a hurry this is a good gig to order. He's only had one bad review and sometimes customers can be just unbearable. seriously if you want a nice logo check his gig out now. Believe me I think the next time I want a logo I will order from him. I could design my own, but it's a lot better supporting people here on Fiverr. Until next time readers have a Fiverrtastic day!

the amazing talent of Breka

Hey Fiverrtastic readers,
Ok so I haven't had a chance to write a blog in a few days. I would like to talk about the amazing art I got for a birthday present for Michelle awhile back from Breka. I ordered an express gig because I was on a time crunch...story of my life. If you don't know by now his seller username is Breka27 and he draws amazing works of art. He  He creates the most amazing works of art with his own gothic flair. If you haven't purchased from Breka yet you need to. It's an order experience you can't miss. Breka I've already blogged about you before so I really don't have much suggestions for you to improve your selling. I see you made Top Rated seller since last time I blogged about you. Just keep doing what your doing. maybe the only thing to help improve your sales or keep steady sales flowing is to place ads on websites with high page rankings. Also having people write articles or blogs about you increases your exposure too. If you ever want to place an ad on my site let me know. it says only a month but until i fill up my site with ads all the people who currently order get an ad for months on end. I have a gig for it so just get a hold of me. For people who aren't aware by now Fiverrtastic has a promotional site as well as a blog. I'm trying to get it updated again slowly but surely. The gigs i've had have been greuling and never ending. Dtong's got it going on

I come to you today to talk about a Fiverr seller who literally works his a$$ off doing what he loves. He has a hip hop sports radio show on blog talk radio and he will play your advertisement or song on the air on his blogtalkradio show for $5. Ya i didn't stutter $5! The sellers name is dtongsports and he has amazing radio advertising gigs. If you want to promote your song or promote your business look no further than dtong. He does an amazing job with his radio show. And believe me I know. not many people on blogtalk radio are live everyday and if they are they don't have the greatest of a show. This show is exciting, innovative, and he tries to keep it going every day or at least every other day. Now that's dedication! This is one seller you can't miss.

Dan I have no advice on your gigs. you have some great gigs. just keep doing what your doing and promote the hell out of the gigs.I think your radio show is amazing and I will order again really soon! Like I said before I can't thank this guy enough for the shout out he playd both of my radio commercials i had! I was surprised as hell at that. Thank you so much dtongsports .

I wanted to release this blog yesterday but I got busy with a lot of different things. I guess i've just been losing focus on things and that isn't fair to you the reader. So I want to know if theres people out there who are interested in contributing to the blog. send me written submissions on fiverr orders you recieved with a positive or negative review. Or send me a written review of your gig. Keep it short at about 300-500 words with a few graphics. Short and simple and to the point.
